My sister, my sister in law and I were supposed to get together about 3 weeks ago. My sister called and said she couldn't make it, on the day it was supposed to happen. I had spent over $100.00 on food and drink. I was mad and very disappointed. I called my sister the next day and told her how typical of her this behavior was. After a week of not hearing from her, I voice my concerns to my sister in law, who says that my sister isn't really mad about the message on her machine, but that I don't get along with her daughter. Well, her daughter is 24, barely works part time, borrows everything (including cigarettes) from her mom, puts her down, back talks, and not to mention that if anyone has a differing opinion on a subject, she will argue, progressively louder, until you surrender. Anyway, a few days ago, I went over to my sister in law's, and my sister was in the kitchen. She stomped down to the basement, until after I left (over an hour). What should I do?

Ignore your sister...she seems to be a small child and has another one 24 yrs old to live with...I'd just let the whole mess go...you can't make your neice change and her mother doesn't seem to care, so why should you ???

Change the things you can...your exposure to the idiots...

Dont let the daughter come in between you and your sister.Lknow it can be upsetting when you can see someone putting on the one you love ,but unfortunatly thats life. Dont comment on your niece and just leave her to her own little tantrums and enjoy your sisters company,Your niece will get bored of going to the basement, when she realises its not getting her anywhere.Another point dont try and run your nieces life, would you let anyone run yours

You don't have to like your niece but it is her life, not yours. The minimum you can do is to be courteous and tell your sister that you are sorry about your previous behaviour. Judge not lest you be judged.

Your not doing anything wrong your only trying to make her wake up to herself regarding her daughter. But your like hitting your head against a brick wall i cant see that it will change.

Is your daughter really that way? Maybe it's time she grow up and get a job and pay her own way.

Let her stomp around all she wants. No wonder her kid acts the way she does.
