Indeed, the increased potassium levels in your brain will trigger the firing sequence of neural transmitters causing a heightened level of serotonin thereby throwing your sodium balance out of whack. This has been shown to cause increased REM states and elevated levels of adrenalin producing excess nervousness, anxiety and night sweats. During the REM stage the muscles will release lactic acid raising the potassium levels even higher, increasing the intensity of the nightmares which in turn feed back into the loop with an increased production of adrenalin in a vicious cycle of nocturnal horror. The easiest way to alleviate this is to liberally salt your bananas

I've never tried that one, I'd probably get heartburn. Maybe for some people and not for others, really hard to say. Every one here would have to have banana's, and every one would have to eat one before bed and then the next day do a survey and tell what happened.
I use to have nightmares when ever I got sick and had a fever. It was usually the fever that caused me to have the nightmare. But I think my husband at the time helped with the nightmare problem. He was, as I finally figured out the monster in my nightmare that was trying to kill me.
After I realized he was the monster that was trying to kill me I finally stopped having that nightmare. I later did divorce him, not a great guy to be with but life does move on and so did I.
Sweet dreams, or happy nightmare hunting!!

I don't think a food can give you a nightmare, unless you're afraid of it. I think nightmares are just a replay of what we've seen that has scared us (like after a scary movie), or what we really, truly fear (losing someone, embarrassing ourselves).

It really depends on what upsets your stomach.
I wouldn't have though of a bannana as being particular caustic,
but if you have certain types of allergies, yes, I can see it causing
nightmares.
However, if you suffer from acid reflux, it doesn't take much...
