God place the tree of KNOWLEDGE in the garden! Not good and evil. Having knowledge will help you to determine good and evil. Adam and Eve were young at there creation (speculated around 12 or 14) It is believed that the knowledge would have been presented to them eventually, in God's time, not mans. So SATAN tricked Eve with his deceitfulness and they ate and disobeyed God, thus sin enters the world because of SATAN!

it was more like a test, not evil. adam and eve ate from the tree of knowledge, failed the test. that's why we are born into sin. then the abel and cain story still no evil quite yet not even a hell yet. then generations pass and people become more wicked, an angel in heaven see's opportunity rebels, then comes evil, and hell. but there is a lot more to the story than this. it was simplified. don't fill like writing a book on the subject. ans anyway what do i know. come to your own conclusion you sound like a bright person.

In a sense he did. He Created All things. He of course created all the angels including Lufifer, i guess he would be like the Commanding angel over all the legions. Lucifer started a revolt against Gods perfect and good law and rallied a bunch of angels to his cause by lying and decieving them and making them sympathetic towards him. God let it carry on for awhile until it got to be a problem, then cast Lucifer and the other angels who supported him out of Heaven and into exile in hell. When God Created Adam and Eve, He placed the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden (and the other trees they were'nt supposed to touch) as a test of their loyalty to God: to see if they would obey him. The serpent (possesed by Lucifer, but not like on the Exorcist, lol) tempted Eve to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge and she did and shared it with Adam. After eating the fruit they gained the knowledge of right and wrong therefore they were no longer innocent. When God saw this he got kinda pi**ed and banned them from the Garden and placed a curse on them and their decendents. Adam (man) would labor all his days to make a living, Eve (woman) would suffer greatly during childbirth yet still want for Adams (man's) affections (sex). And it also says the serpant was cursed by God removing his legs so that he would have to slither on his belly (snake). and it says woman will inherently have a fear of snakes too i think. Anyways long story short, Satan (Lucifer) tempted Adam and Eve, they disobeyed god, were cursed and we are now a fallen race. What was the Question?

There is opposition in all things. God did not create evil. Satan creates evil. He wants us to be miserable and unhappy whereas God wants us to be happy. Everything good comes from God;everything evil from Satan or the devil. BTW it was the tree of the KNOWLEDGE of good and evil not, the tree of good and evil.

I am not sure that the tree itself was good and evil.... just that its fruit gave the KNOWLEDGE of good and evil.

I am not disagreeing with the idea that God created evil, I just disagree that the tree in the garden was evil

If there was nothing before God and God created everything then yes, he did.

This sort of ties into the ancient philosophical "Problem of Evil" that Epicurus is famous for.
