Mascarpone Cheese

Mascarpone is a triple-creme cheese made from crème fraîche, fresh double cream by making it appropriate for human consumption with rennet. Sometimes buttermilk is added as well, depending on the brand. After denaturation, whey is removed without pressing or aging. One can make mascarpone by using cream, tartaric or citric acid, or even lemon juice.

Confectioner's Sugar

Confectioner's Sugar is actually powdered sugar. Sugar that is pounded making it a powdery sugar substance.

Powdered sugar (in Britain, Australia, Canada, and most of the Commonwealth icing sugar) is a very finely ground form of sugar that is synonymous with confectioner's sugar. In industrial food production it is used where a quick dissolving sugar is required or as in domestic use principally to make icing or frosting, and other cake decorations. It is often lightly dusted onto a baked good to add light sweetness and subtle decoration.

It is generally mixed with cornstarch or wheat flour, or calcium phosphate to improve its flowing ability and is not generally used to sweeten a beverage, but producers do make industrial grades available without additives.

Caster sugar, generally unavailable in the United States, is a larger particle size approximately half or less in size of granulated

Mascarpone cheese looks and tasted like cream cheese. I've heard that in Italy it is used at times in place of butter and can be used in savory or sweet dishes. It is used to make tiramisu.
Confectioner sugar is powdered sugar. A powdery white sugar used to cover donuts or sprinkled over cakes and french toast.

Mascarpone cheese is an Italian cream cheese and is an ultra-rich dairy product, it is extremely smooth, slightly sweet, similar to Devon Cream and is used in desert recipes.
Confectioners' sugar is also known as "Icing sugar" and is used in making icing for you cake and can also be a substitute for granular sugar in some instances.
Hope this helps.

Marscopone is an Italian cheese used in sweet and savoury dishes. It's traditionally used in Tiramisu. I looks like cream cheese, but not as thick.
Confectioners Sugar is simply icing sugar. It is white and powdery, but don't mistake this for 'pure icing sugar' because this is a completely different product which sets solid.
Both items can be found at your local grocery store.
