Even though Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane before going to Calvary, Calvary happened because it was God's will for man to be saved.
Most Christians equate prayer with the Upper Room therefore in a sense you could be right.
Nothing happens apart from prayer and Calvary was a result of much prayer.

Calvary was an altar. The type in the Old Testament for Calvary was the brazen altar in the courtyard of the Tabernacle....the place where the offering was "consumed" by fire.
