I ran short of time and I almost fainted/felt very light headed and numb in certain areas...The tattoo artist just outlined my tattoo on my forearm without ink, just some sort of vaseline or something, and I had to leave but it was also very very painfull. How do I minimize the pain and keep my head from falling to the ground or floating away. Any help and tips are very very appreciated!!!!!!

I don't know what you mean by running short of time but be sure that you have eaten a small meal (balanced out with protein and carbs) within two hours of your tattoo and be plenty hydrated that day.

Don't drink alcohol that day or the night before. A lot of times all this works with the anxiety and you just start spinning. You will likely feel much better the next time around.

? i have never heard of a whole tattoo outline being done without ink. my artist did what are called bloodlines on my husbands leg in a couple of spots, it is to leave an outline of blood so you don't have to do a color outline. then you go and fill in the color when the time comes for it (during the same tattoo session) my husband said that the bloodlines were so much more painful than the rest of the tattoo. probably because of the lack of lubrication you get from the ink? i don't know. i am interested to see a picture of what you had done.

Eat a good meal before hand, make sure you're hydrated and get rest the night before. I'm not sure by reading your description if he actually started the tattoo or just put the stencil on you...but that's not painful so i'm not sure what was done - I'm assuming he started the outline? When you're getting tattooed....concentrate on an object...say a dot on the floor...and make sure to breathe....keep concentrating on that dot and your breathing. Your body will adapt to the feeling somewhat after a little time. It won't go numb...but you'll get used to it so it won't be so shocking to you.

Do not take any drugs, drink, etc beforehand and I would not recommend drinking alot the night before either. Just go in well fed and remember why you're getting your tattoo and think of the piece of art that you'll have on your body after it's done...

You passed out and didn't even get anything done? I've never heard of them outlining it with vaseline. What is that about? They always just cleaned it off, rubbed something on it, and went to work, with ink. Is that something new? Cuz it sounds really weird and like some wasted pain. My advice, go to somebody else, bring somebody with you, or something to do, music to listen to, something to distract yourself. Or try a less painful spot for your first one, something that you can cover up if you wuss out again.

I just got my 2nd and 3rd tat tonight. The outline is the worst part. It does not hurt as much when they color it in. Hopefully they didn't go too deep. That also makes it hurt more than it has too.
I got my pics on my 360 if you can get to it. I cannot get it visible.

On your form arm, try a bone now that is pain.
You do not seam like the type who can handle pain, it might be best for you not to go through with the tattoo.

I don't recall either of my tattoos hurting like that. Are you sure that the artist didn't do something wrong or that you are not allergic to the ink?

rough and tough guys always seem to underestimate the pain.... well, i guess your body showed you.

i always think the worst and allow myself to be pleasantly surprised.

tattoo's feel very different when they go in with ink. the ink is like lube, and it feels much better then going at it dry.

good luck

don't be a wus!
