i had strep throat about 2 weeks ago, started taking antibiotics and felt better in like 3 days, it was spring break so i started drinking alot since i was feeling better... i finally finished the antibiotics 2 days ago, and today i have strep throat all over again.... how long should i wait this time before i start partying again? i heard alcohol doesn't affect the antibiotics... so is it possible strep didn't go away due to immunity to antibiotics or whatever and not the drinking? i'm bored and im wondering when i can get back in the game

Someone pulled your leg. Antibiotics and alcohol won't kill you--but alcohol will stop the penicillin from doing its job. That's why you got sick all over again--and it could have been worse!!

This time, don't drink until 24 hours after you've taken the last pill--and that's even pushing it.

Feel better :)

How do you know you have strep throat again?
If you have a positive strep test, you'll have to start another round of antibiotics. Alcohol lowers your body's ability to fight infection. It also lowers the effectiveness of the antibiotic.
Let's hope the strep didn't affect your heart valve or kidneys while you were busy being irresponsible.

I'm just wondering why alcohol is that important to you. Think about it. There are other ways to beat boredom without exposing others to strep. Best wishes and get well soon.

I am sorry, but YES ALCOHOL DOES AFFECT ANTI-BIOTICS...you may need to go back to the doctor...But do not tell him you were drinking unless you want a lecture...thanks!!
