"Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel" was may favorite as a young boy.
As you are a female... my daughters did a version of "Love at Home" that made me get all choked up.
As a child... it's always "Popcorn popping"

Most of my favorites are Primary songs, like I am a child of God, and the one that starts out Heavenly Father, are you really there and do you hear and answer every child's prayer?
I also really like Love at Home, and I Stand All Amazed.
Have you checked out the music portion of lds.org? The whole Hymn book and Primary songbook is there including the music.

My favourite it 'O My Father'. Go to the back of the hymn book, pick a subject that you want to sing about, and look under that heading to see what songs you find. Give it a try!

It all really depends on how big your "congregation" is and what will follow the hymns. If you have a big enough congreagation, hymn 2, The Spirit of God is always good to invite the Spirit (wow I never made that connection). I'm also personally a big fan of hymn 26, Joseph Smith's First Prayer, but it really all depends on what it's for.
Hope that helps.

Here are some of my favorites:
I stand all amazed
Praise to the man
The Spirit of God
If you could hie to Kolob
As sisters in Zion (the Efy compilation of this song with armies of Helaman is really beautiful)
I know that my Redeemer lives
Come come ye saints
a poor wayfaring man of grief
We thank thee oh God for a prophet
These songs, I think, are very magnificent songs, and make it easy to feel the Spirit
Hope that helped!

I have many hymns that I like but my 3 favorite are
We thank thee o God for a prophet
A poor wayfaring man of grief
I believe in Christ.
If you have a large congregation, then We thank thee o God for a prophet would probably be the best, because it is well known and people can sing it w/o a hymnal.

My most fave is "If You could Hie to Kolob"
But I also love:
Jesus, Lover of my Soul
I Believe in Christ
Abide With Me
Do you need a hymn or just a spiritual song? Look at Sally DeFord's music - she has a website and all the music can be printed off the web - she has some really beautiful songs.

Some of my fave's - For Me Alone, If the Savior stood beside Me

"Come, Come, Ye Saints" leads the favorites that I have, but there are many more, some of which are:
"I Stand All Amazed"
"Come Follow Me"
"Ere You Left Your Room This Morning"
"God Be With You"
"How Firm a Foundation"
"We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet"
"Because I Have Been Given Much"
"O My Father"
"Praise to the Man"
There are more, but the names are fuzzy.
