There are a couple tests that can be done. First you can get an EKG, but sometimes other things can cause abnormalities and its hard to tell what is new and what is old. I think the best thing is an echocardiogram because you can actually see the heart and how it is beating. The test will show how the blood is flowing so you can see where the damage is and how the heart is working with the damage.

EKG is your basic exam. Previous heart attacks will show. Heart enzymes in blood also diagnose old myocardial infarcts. The best , however, is a 2D echo. It shows your heart actually pumping and any damage to the valves or heart wall will be visualized.

The best test for assessing heart muscle and or other damage would probably be best selected by your cardiologist who is familiar with your case as opposed to people on the web speculating.

Get to a cardiologist and they will do an EKG and some blood work. They might also do an echocardiogram.

(Thanx for answering my question. Now its my turn) EKG's are the best. I've had them too many times and they work out for the best result.

the best test is to make a booking with your cardiologist and discuss the whole matter with him.
If you are serious about the abovementioned matter I think you shouldn't expect to get you "serious" answer from "Answers".
Get real.
