Yes, science is limited to reality.
In my mind, that is a positive development.

This subject is one I've pondered over and over again, but it seems I get farther and farther away from the answer each time. I'm agnostic; I believe there is no way we humans can prove God is out there. He very well could be...or maybe science is right all along. You have a very good point. Our five senses basically rule our reality of life, and nothing more. I guess I agree that there very well may be other dimensions in the universe that we cannot sense as human beings. I don't completely agree, but I don't oppose the idea.
No one in this whole world can PROVE God exists, according to my "beliefs," if I really have any. Sometimes I try to think logically..but then again, at some points, I lose my logic for a while and start to think outside the box. Now, the confusing part of this: is it even possible for there to be another dimension if we can't sense it? Does it have the necessities to even exist? No one will REALLY know, just like the matter of God, who was just a subsitute for science when there was none. A very long time ago, they didn't know how anything happened...and just for things to get in order, they believed God was the cause of this universe. I don't see how anyone or anything could possess such powers as God supposedly has, but maybe I'm wrong.
The whole world is one big, confusing mystery...maybe one that will never be solved.
Hope this helped you out at least a little.

You can't be certain if God exists or doesn't exist. It's just impossible. I personally believe there is a God. The fact that there was just Nitrogen and Water and whatever other elements just came out of nowhere and created everything through a big boom just doesn't make sense to me. Where the **** did it come from?! I believe God did that. The fact that we can have a true personal relationship with God I don’t believe is possible. I believe he created everything for a purpose and left it at that. I also believe that he demands worship of him and him only. I believe that we are subject to the decisions we make, the decisions other people make, and the way the world he created works. I do not believe he will start or stop a natural disaster or a drunk driver just because… he hasn’t done anything like that since the Old Testament at least. Do I believe in science? Full heartedly. Heck it even proved how all the plagues in Egypt came about. Was it Devine intervention? It’s up to you to decide. Science is based on facts and data. And is meant to disprove what you believe rather than prove what you believe. Does it disprove or prove the existence of God? No that is utterly and completely impossible. It can only suggest theories, THEORIES mind you, of the things of our world and the things that we can see, touch, measure, and comprehend. We will not know if God exists until we die. All you’ve got to run on is your beliefs and your beliefs alone

Let's stick with the dimension we are in and not try and go off on some fantasy trip! If you want fantasy watch star trek or star wars! However do NOT confuse fiction with fact.
Yes science is based partly on our current level of understanding but so is everything! At least everything that stays within the realm of fact and doesn't go off into the twilight zone with idea or theories to which there is no evidance. Theories like the existance of a God!
Yes Science is open to change if new data shows that the old data was incomplete or not entirely accurate. However compare this to religion. Religion flat out refuses to ever consider that any idea they have could even remotely be wrong. This is a closed minded view and one that is compltely against growth or change because change is seen as a threat to the control the religion has over those that follow it!
If religion loses the control it has on people, enduced mostly out of either fear of suffering or a desire to get things not because you earn them but because you are part of the right click, then it would lose the money they get every week. Money is what is driving religion far more then a fantasy God! Money and power is what drives modren religion!
Science is a breath of fresh air to the insanity of the not to distant past where thought was controled by religion and things like the inquisition could go on for over 600 years!
Not one person has been burned at the stake because of science! Your religion can't make the same claim!

I don't trust in science, I know. We use and study more than our five senses but they are still our best starting place. We can't perceive a lot of things, cells for one, and have managed to use logic to come up with the possibility then go study to see if it is there. Science has never said there is no god, many scientists believe in a higher power of some sort. No good scientist has ever made the claim that there is definitively not more than we know, we are learning, looking and searching. Science is not religion's enemy and never has been. When Christians see that, we will be much better off as a whole.

Yes, it's true that science is limited in it's ability to prove non-material things. I believe that the Divine conforms to our expectations. It would therefore change pretty much all the time. A scientific experiment cannot conclude that something exists if the results are different each time. They want a repeatable test that yeilds the same results each time. This is not the nature of most non-material things. Our ability to perceive the non-material will grow with each new generation, with each new generation being better adept at perceiving the Divine than the previous generation. Someday science will figure out how to satisfy this gap and develop new ways to utilize the non-material.

why are you guys always trying to prove a point all the time with the whole god and creation theory. You spend all your life trying to prove others wrong instead of trying to be more Christ like. Lead by examples. So what if science is right or wrong. The point is that we are all here now and must treat each other with dignity and respect.
How do you explain meteoroids hitting earth carrying life through bacterias and fossil fuels? Its not a myth or a what if. It has been researched enough to be called a fact.
Your religious drawn out question has been discussed here over and over. clearly those of us with an open mind, are not going to get persuaded into believing a biblical story right after reading your question. so why not just drop it and help people in third world countries live better so that we may all enjoy our existence here on earth equally.

The stated goal of most scientists is to find out answers in a relative sense, not a factual sense. Science doesn't care what a molecule actually looks like, thats useless, what is more important is how to model it so its properties relative to other molecules can be understood and manipulated with expected results. Most credible Scientists that I have met will not tell you God does not exist, only that they do or do not believe a God exists for spicific reasons. For instance I do not believe God exists in the capacity most Christians believe He does, as their most cited source is a book that has been drastically changed over the course of the past 1900 years. However I don't really hold a position as to whether or not He exists as I have no proof for or against such theory.

By your reasoning no one can be 100% sure of anything, including that God exists or that God doesn't exist. Even accepting your premise though I submit there can be a hierarchy of reasonableness. We may not be able to know for sure but based on evidence we can possess more certainty about certain things. If we went with anything could be true because we might be limited by our senses we would have to be open to all sorts of nonsensical things as equally valid. Giant teapots orbiting out in space somewhere has equal validity with a supernatural being is out there based on objective evidence. Thus, I tend to go with what evidence indicates to be most likely but acknowledge as science always should that we be willing to reconsider and interpret new evidence if it arises.

Science is a tool for examining reality and explains how and why it works the way it does. It proves it's worth by successfully predicting (prophecy) what will happen if we manipulate reality in certain ways. Everyday we personally experience the miracles provided by science in the form of medicine and technology. There is plenty of reality left to be uncovered by science. All of reality is science's domain.
As to if anything lies beyond reality? Like a parallel invisible spiritual existance or where god lives. As far as I care, that's for meta-physics to examine. Perhaps I'm like ancient man who did not believe gravity and air where real because he could not see or feel it, I don't believe in a spiritual plane. Makes me an atheist, but I'm ready for conversion if I'm presented with a compelling enough argument.
--
Reading some responses. If you believe god is unprovable, why not just junk the idea as irrelevant to your time on Earth, and become an atheist? You are stepping in the realm of accepting Mickey Mouse, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny by going the agnostic route. If something is unprovable, provides no evidence, is manmade myth, for all practical purposes does not exist.

We were just talking about that in class today! Science is real! you can get definite answers with it.while other religious studies there is no definite answers.for example people follow (Jesus, Mohamed, Moses) believing that they were real and there is a god, but we don't know for sure because of the whole (blind faith) thing, while there is so much evidence about evolution that its hard to disagree with it. we can never be 100% sure that god exists or does not exist because we don't have the capability to see beyond. but its likely that he does because NATURE is PERFECT and I dont think something that perfect could be made by an accident. however since we can't see god we can't be sure it all depends on personal believes.
P.S There are other dimensions. Science is sure of that. Another totally different world could exist right next to us after all atoms are not but empty space.
