Yes stress can cause chest pains and shortness of breath. This is an anxiety attack, but it would be best to see a doctor to rule out heart problems.

Stress can cause you to have chest pain, espesially if you were having a panic attack. This is called angina and happens to a lot of people who have panic attacks. It probably would be a good idea to talk to your doctor because it would be a heart issue as well. Sometimes people will have heart attacks caused by stress, you may have narrowing of some artieries which makes you more succeptable to chest pain. It doesnt hurt to check it out, but if something is wrong and you dont check then you have a problem. Definately try to stay away from stressful situations and have it checked out so you know what to do next time.
Hope everything turns out ok.

Why on Earth is this in the cancer section??

Yes, hyperventiliating is kind of like running without the running. Your body is making you breathe faster, adrenaline is pumping, you're sweating: all in all, it can lead to chest pains.

I had massive pains a couple years ago due to stress.
I calmed down and all my arrhythmia problems went away.

Stress is a killer, it not only causes heart attacks and strokes it causes many more diseases. It is one of satans attacks on us; the who came to kill, steal and destroy us.

Jesus says: come unto me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. He wants us to have life and life more abundantly. Anything that would cause us worry or fear is not of God and He will take all our problems if we ask him and in turn he gives us joy, joy unspeakable, He leads us to lay down in green pastures and beside still waters in the midst of storms. He is the healer who wants to heal all the things that have hurt us and He suffered and died to offers us salvation-eternal life and He is calling you right now and He calls you friend. He is lowly and humble and kind. If you have never known Jesus Christ as your best friend, Lord & Savior then I pray and give our heavenly Father all glory and ask that your heart be convicted in Jesus precious name.
Now repeat the following and mean it in your heart:

Father, I am a sinner in need of a Savior. Jesus, I beleive that you died on the cross for my sins and that the Father rose you again three days later, forgive me my sins and come into my heart and be Lord of my life and my bestfriend Jesus, in the name of the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Your heavenly Father wrote you a letter (the Holy Bible) we all need to read it; He loves you and He will never leave you nor forsake you - remember the devil is the liar and the deceiver; Jesus will never leave you....call on Him, draw nearer to him by getting involved with your spiritual brothers and sisters at a Christian church...You would not beleive all the Youth group ministries going everywhere and doing so much....don't let the devil keep you in fear anymore;;;;ask Jesus to get you to church-a bible study and he will...It is written: we do not have becuase we do not ask; ask....and never give up, never give up...never give up...

Never giving up...
and counting it all joy...

I'd talk to your doctor about it, depending on your family history or any other health problems it could be signs of heart attack or gerd (reflux)

Oh yeah. You'd better get a check up and make sure your heart is ok.
