well i would wash your hair more then once a week. use T/Gel you can get that at walmart it's like 4 to 8 bucks depending on which kind you buy. i use it and it's great head and shoulder and all the other did nothing for me. that will help alot then find a good shampoo for you to use and wash your hair every other day but not once a week. i find that change shampoo doesn't help it makes it worse. i had the itchy, dandruff and it drove me nuts. changed to different shampoo nothing the problem got worst so i used T/Gel again like I had to use about 5 years ago.

I have the same problem, I tried everything from washing more, washing less, changing shampoos. Finally I found a combo that works for me. I wash my hair every other day, shower in warm, not hot water as its drying, and when I wash I use head and shoulders with almond oil. Then once a week I use a medicated shampoo from my doctor because he diagnosed it as psoriasis, and rinse with part water part apple cider vinegar. I know its kind of a lot but if your like I was, my scalp was HORRIBLE, and I was at the point id do anything for relief. The steps I've mentioned made a huge difference, my scalp is great now. The only time I have flare ups is when I'm under a ton of stress.

First you need to start washing more than once a week - every other day would be good. And use a good dandruff shampoo. I like ADVANCE TECHNIQUES 2-in-1 Anti-Dandruff Shampoo & Conditoner by Avon. It's not harsh like some of the others and it works really well, plus it's not super expensive. $1.99 if it's on sale and $3.49 if it's not. And no, I don't sell Avon. I just am really happy that I found something that works so well.

raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, cost $5 a bottle
Hair & Scalp- Seborrheic Dermatitis (Severe Dandruff)
Brijette of Bettendorf, Iowa writes us, "My Chiropractor told me to use vinegar on my baby girl's cradle cap. I applied it straight and let it sit for 10 minutes before her bath. I've done this only four times now and her cradle cap is almost gone already!!! Maybe this straight vinegar treatment could work for other scalp problems as well."
Anne writes, " I have dark hair which is very oily. I use apple cider vinegar as a hair rinse, it helps to dissolve buildup, which results in much shinier hair. It has also been very beneficial for my dandruff."
A reader from Boston, MA writes, "I'm so happy that I found this site. I have applied straight apple cider vinegar 30 min before washing my hair and the flaking is almost gone. It has taken five treatments and WOW what a difference. It make my hair shiny too (extra bonus)."
Now science tells us that it promotes blood circulation in the small blood capillaries that irrigate the skin. It is also antiseptic, combating yeasts, viruses, and bacteria that can cause infection.
Apple cider vinegar is rich in alpha-hydroxy acids, helping to dissolve fatty deposits on the skin’s surface and reducing scaly conditions, promoting a softer, smoother appearance. This miracle fluid also regulates the pH of the skin.
You won’t believe how many ways apple cider vinegar can be used to promote healthier skin and hair! Find out some of the couldn’t-be-simpler ways to put it to work for you, below:
Dandruff fighter: Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar to 3 parts warm water to balance scalp pH and control dandruff. You can also apply undiluted vinegar to the scalp. Allow it to penetrate, then shampoo with a mild shampoo.

OMG- sounds like my husband's head- exactly!!!!!
He got his hair cut once and the girl that did it suggested a different shampoo. He started using it, and he still has to shampoo pretty often, but he can go a couple days before his scalp looks like it's all just coming off in huge flakes.
I mentioned it to a friend of mine (also a hair person), and she said that the key ingredient in that new shampoo that is so great is tea tree oil....
So try a new shampoo, make sure it's got tea tree oil in it!
Best of Luck!!

I had this for many years and no shampoo helped. If so, wash your hair every 2 days, and buy shampoos without Laurel Sulfate in it. That is what dries your scalp and begins to its and flake.

you need to wash your hair every day!!!
But to not dry it out one day use conditioner and shampoo then the next just use conditioner and so on.
You can try using scalp nourishing shampoo too
But you need to wash it everyday

change the shampoo ur using. it's probably a side effect and doesnt agree with ur hair. i have heard good things about Head&Shoulders. u should try it:it's primarily for problems like yours. have a balanced diet too and ensure that ur not stressing urslef out or it could get worse.
