My dad fought in the Korean war and was in a lot of battle. He was ground infantry. He done everything he could to make sure we (myself and 3 siblings) didn't go and join the forces.
I think if I was you that I would talk to someone that has served in Iraq before I jump into something that I didn't want. You dad shouldn't try to force you to do this. He needs to stop and think that if he forces you into the air force or any brand of the military and you was killed it would be on his conscience for the rest of his life.

I don't think anyone should force you to join the air force if you really don't want to. When there is not a war going on, it is different, but right now, you really must think about it, and do what you feel is best. There are many benefits to joining, but also there are risks, it must be your decision that is final.

If you're still in high school work really hard to get a scholarship. My dad retired from the AF and he tried to push me to join after high school. You're not going to want to do it if it's not in you. I just busted my *** afterwards and paid for it on my own without any help lol. That choice is totally up to you..don't let money be your only reason for making such a huge decision!! Good luck.

Take charge of your own life (and expenses), and work to pay your OWN way through College at this point in time.

It CAN mean that you DO enter the Military Services ... because there is the opportunity to further your education through your service, and yes, I AM Retired Military, and definitely TOOK ADVANTAGE of that benefit of my Service (I consider it a great 'blessing' of my service that I was able to obtain my Graduate Degrees while in the Service!).

there are scholarships, loans, grants, and all sorts of programs kids hoping to go to college can get. you just have to keep your eye out for them.
the best idea for now would be to go to a community college, its cheaper and they have a financial aid programs you can try to get in.

if any of that doesnt work, the air force will pay for college. they have have alot of awesome programs to help out young kids such as yourself.

best luck to you!
