Does it matter which leg a garter is on for a wedding, as far as a standard?

While there is no rule set mentioning which leg the garter is to be on- many of the weddings that i have attended, the brides had it on the left leg.

I think it really doesn't matter as long as it isn't too high up where it can be embarrassing.

Whichever leg the bride feels comfortable with. There are no rules.

Make sure it goes on the brides leg, not the grooms :)

I've always seen it on the left, but i've never heard an explicit rule... good question!

No. I hope you aren't going to have one of those tacky disgusting removal of the garter things. It is embarrassing for everyone.
