okay on tuesday i am skipping school to go get a surgery on my two i-teeth. my baby teeth are still in there, one is loose a little, but what they have to do is this: first they have to give me anestetics. then, when im out, they have to pull out my baby teeth out, cut off some of my gums to expose the adult teeth, then they have to pull the teeth down. i have never had to do something like this, and i know it may sound really stupid but i am scared and if anybody has had to do this, tell me what it is like and how long will it hurt and when will the anestetics wear off (i dont really know if it makes a difference but the anestetics are what the doctor called "twilight anestetics") also, i have braces on and if you know how long it will be until they attach the brackets on my adult teeth, please tell me. if you know anything about anything i have just mentioned please post your answer (please, nothing rude, only serious answers) and thanks in advance!!! :)

I had this proceedure done when I was 15. I had to have the braces put on first and then they exposed my impacted eye tooth. They put a bracket on it and slowly pulled it into the right position by twisting the wire every month. The surgery was a piece of cake, but the monthly twisting was horrible. The put the bracket on your tooth as soon as your mouth heals from the surgery. My eye tooth is perfectly in place, I am grateful they were able to salvage my adult teeth, I wouldn`t want implants . The pain is worth it, your mouth will look great afterwards. What`s happened is that your teeth never came down from the places where they were developing. The doctors are trying to restore them to their natural position.

I haven't experienced this, but I'm pretty sure they will probably give you a prescription for pain medication (prescription strength motrin or something like that) to help with any pain - if not, you could ask for something. The anethesia will take several hours to wear off.
As for the braces, it just depends on how long it takes the teeth to come down, it could be several weeks or maybe a couple months. Talk to the dentist before they give you anethesia, s/he should be able to answer your questions better.
Good luck!

you would be in pain for about a week. twilight anesthesia is just a happy pill you take that will basically make you stupid. youll be woozy. the brackets will be placed on your adult teeth at a later date to bring them out. its not a one shot deal. youll be ok. baby teeth usually arent that bad. youll be fine
