I see a lot of Subaru Forresters on the road and nearly none of them for sale on any dealer's lot. They have SUV praticality for a station wagon price. The base model Forrester can be had for $18,500. The Rav4 and Edge start off in the mid to upper 20's.

Each vehicle is different in it's own special way, but personally speaking...

Subaru's are reliable, but depending where you live, service/part availability might be an issue. Plus, it's more station-wagony (work with me here) where the other 2 are a bit more SUV-wanna be. And most people have an issue with the station-wagon image, and/or minivan stigma for that matter. Other than that, styling wise It's kinda blah, nothing really sets it apart, but again, just my thought.

I have a friend who bought a Rav4, and I believe if you really need a 3rd row seat, this could work for you, even if it's a little tight. I might also say it's reliable but it's a new vehicle and Toyota has been taking some hits lately in reliability, so let's cross our fingers. Styling wise, it's kinda blah...I always feel that when someone buys a Toyota, it's like they have given up on driving. Lacks soul and passion, sort of like a Buick.

I myself like the Edge, I've seen a few on the road and I keep looking out for them because stylign wise it's very attractive and bold actually. I saw one with the Vista roof option, at a test driving comparison with a few other vehicles and was very impressed by the power (V6 uses regular gas), the handling, and felt solid, yet not cumbersome like truck based SUVs. Also received 5star crash rating in government crash testing data. But it doesn't have a 3rd row option. The Explorer and Freestyle (now being named to Taurus X) have the 3rd row option.

The Edge is more direct competitor to the Nissan Murano...more about styling, than being a family vehicle. I call it "A personal crossover".

Well just my thoughts, hope it helps :)

the ford edge is the best value, at least where i live, but i dont particularly care for the style, and i am not a toyota person, but i think that i like the style of the Rav4 the best of all the 3 choices you listed--------i hate anything Subaru! I own a Ford Escape and I love it! I got a sweet deal on it too because it was the end of the year! If you can possibly wait until then, buy it then because you can get so many more deals since anything that does not sell will go to auction and they would rather sell it for a little less than normal than get $500 for it at auction.

Subaru Forester is all right, but it's not even what I'd call an SUV. What you've got listed here is basically a mid-sizer, a small, and a wagon. For my money, I'd go with the RAV4, 'cause it packs a lot of content for the money, but if I had the bucks, I'd get an Edge. Great styling and good content, but I doubt it's worth the asking price at this point.

The Edge has a great design, RAV is ok, but it lacks personality. Subaru is great, but I prefer the Outback.

Have you checked out the Kia Sorento? My mother in law was looking at all 3 of the vehicles you are asking about and decided to check out the KIA - WHAT A GREAT SUV!!!! It has more options that all of the above combined and at a much better price - plus the warranty is UNREAL! Check them out!
