They aren't? There are 1.5 billion Muslims and LESS than 1% are extremists and LESS than that are terrorists. You do the math, if that is "most" well I'll be sending myself right back to school because last time i checked "most" meant a majority.

This is not true my friend, there are 1 500 000 000 (thats right 1 and half BILLION) Muslims. Less than 1% are terrorists.
Terrorists are criminals! There maybe more fundamentalists but the MAJORITY are Not, just because you are a fundamentalist doesn't make you a terrorist.
Terrorists are doing their deeds out of desperation for their socio-economic condition, tell me how desperate does one have to be to do a suicide bombing mission.
You know the saying, "Desperate times call for desperate measures"

That's not true. A fundamentalist of a religion would at least follow what the religion teaches. The terrorists completely ignore these verses and hadith:
[17:33] Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand retaliation or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life, for he is helped (by the Law)
[22:39] Permission (to fight) is given to those upon whom war is made because they are oppressed, and most surely Allah is well able to assist them;
Volume 2, Book 23, Number 445:
Narrated Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak:
The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "Whoever commits suicide with piece of iron will be punished with the same piece of iron in the Hell Fire." Narrated Jundab the Prophet said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My follower has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him."
The Messenger of Allah (saas) said, "One who kills a non-Muslim person under protection (Arabic: dhimmi) will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise."

Islam is religion of love. In fact Islam means "Peace." I know of no Muslim who is a terrorist.
(If find if I answer these types of questions truthfully, I get a bunch of thumbs-downs, so I'm trying a reverse psychology approach)
Muslims are terrorists today for the same reason that Christians were terrorists 500 years ago and Jews were terrorists 3000 years ago. Their religion demands it. Any other answer is the product of modern Religious Tolerance -- a belief that it is wrong to criticize anyone's religion, no matter how many planes they fly into your buildings or car bombs they explode.
Today's "moderate" Muslims stop short of criticizing terrorism and say only that they do not "support" terrorism. Just how many anti-Bin Laden demonstrations have you seen American Muslims participate in? None! That's right.
How many American Muslims who don't "support" terrorism have gone to Afghanistan to actively preach and demonstrate against the Taliban? None! That's right.
How many American Muslims who don't "support" terrorism have gone to Iraq to actively preach and demonstrate against the Al-Sadr? None! That's right.
If only less that 1% of the world 1.5 BILLION Muslims are terrorists and the rest are against terrorism, then why don't we see those 1.5 Billion Muslims doing something about terrorism? Should be quite an easy tasks considering the numbers are apparently in their favor.
Why don't we see these 1.5 Billion Peaceful Muslims storming the Mosques that preach hatred and incite violence, permanently shutting them down? O' Lovers of Peace, answer me this!?!?!?!?!

There are fundamentalists and terrorists on both sides, and to characterize the lot (most) as such is innacurate and delusional, not to mention a bit paranoid.

There is no such thing as a "muslim extremist". The creatures that attacked us on 9/11 where true muslims and, hey what is it if you die in this world when you have an eternity at a place like this... (I quote from the Koran.)
