I am making a lemon/chocolate chip cake, I have a good jar of lemon curd, can i mix it or drop it in the batter before baking? Will it make a soggy cake?

Sweetie, dont bake it inside. As a mere suggestion, bake your cake.Let it cool to where you can handle it and place it on a rack.Cut the top off, about 1/3 of your cake.Out of the bottom half, with your fingers gradually pull out the "inside" of the cake.so that you have a "tunnel" throughout your cake bottom.Just before serving, spoon in curd and spread evenly through the "tunnel" place top back on and serve. If you have any glaze or lemon curd left over drizzle over the outside of the cake.Good luck hun,and have a good night.

P.S. Do NOT throw away the cake that you have removed.Save it in a zip lock baggie for an extra dessert.Bread Pudding.

Hi:

I would probably try to get it in after the bundt cake has baked and cooled. You could probably load the curd into a pastry bag, and with a small enough tip, insert it about 3 or so tablespoons of it in several areas along the bottom, sort of like how twinkies are filled with cream.

Hope this helps.

just a suggestion, I'd pour half the batter in the cake pan, then spoon in the lemon curd, then pour the rest of the batter in on top.It will probably turn out rather like a pudding cake with the "jammy" sort of curd in the centre....Sounds yumilicious!

I cannot imagine lemon and chocoalte chip together! Anyway...... I would just spoon the lemon curd over each slice on a plate. It will get soggy if you do it in advance.

Carefully drop it in, it will be just fine, sounds tasty, it's just like making a molten chocolate cake
