It depends, If the person has to actually have a parole hearing, it may take a week or two to be released if the parole board agrees to release him. In Louisiana, if the parole board (hearing) grants release, the release date is usually 14-21 days following the hearing.

Now, if where you live a person does not have to have a hearing, then his parole date is usually preset and he should know exactly when he is being released.

Parole is not always a given . Some violent offenders are not paroled , even though they are entitled to a parole hearing .
