My mother hasnt showed me affection since I was like 10 and not only that but she started controlling me and mistreating me. I am 24, it hurts not to have a relationship with her and it hurts taht someone I loved and needed with all my heart wasnt present in my life and hurt me.
I know that what she does is not loving, but I dont know what would it be like if she was loving to me. What am I missing?
Please tell me how does your mom shows you affection?

She is there no matter what life hands me, she is my best friend (with the exception of certain things she just doesn't need to know;she is my mother!), and any time she is around all I want to do is be next to her and hug her!! Oh and the fact that I talk to her more than 5 times a day!!! I am sorry about your mom, but some people just don't have the motherly love. I don't know why but I have seen it with my sister and her daughter. But as for myself being a mom is the best damn thing in the world! I think it's even better than being a wife!!!

Now that you're growing older she's realizing she's losing you. I'm guessing you don't live at home and you're either in grad school or working and maybe you're even heading into getting married or are. But whatever you're doing you're moving out onto your own or with another woman and not her. She wants to control what you do because she wants to keep you home and with her. She does love you. And if you think about to your teen years if you're like any typical teen you probably shooed your parents away and didnt want anything to do with them.
I think you should do something for your mom to show her how much you love her. Don't wait til mother's day either. Take her out for a nice dinner or to a play (if you live near a big city) or something fun she'll enjoy, give her a rose (red for love, white for purity, yellow and orange for friendship) or if I may, I recommend a small bouquet of alstromeria, mini carnations and a single rose with greenry that way she can put them in a vase and enjoy them and it's unique without being too traditional.
My mom, we live in two seperate states (im only 17) and we talk about once a week, see each other every couple months but she mails me little gifts every now and then.

Having your mom love you is her hugging you and saying "I love you,***, calling you when you live across the country or sending you goofy emails, sending you gifts for Christmas and birthday and other times. Don't give up though, go out and find you another mom, maybe at church, that will replace that love. There are people out there that can give love because they have it, some just don't have any to give. Some are bitter because of bad relationships and they are more bitter than lemons. Just try and not take it to personally, you are important and have a place in the world. My relationship with my dad is the same as you and your mom, so don't feel to bad!

she tells me she loves me, she's there for me emotionally, she just always there for me period. it's really hard for me to explain. if you don't have a relationship with your mom it's never too late sometimes people make mistakes and want to make them right. you should talk to your mom she may feel the same way you do.

Well, i've had the same problem...since i was about 5 though. My mother would abuse us and that is the reason why I dont like her and i will never like her. SO i have the same problem..she hates me ..she treats me the worst!
