i know side cramps are normal, but are shoulder cramps? i get the side cramps and then i get shoulder cramps. but their only in my right shoulder...

Happens to me all the time. Your blood vessels swell because the blood flow increases, and one of the main ones runs through there. Thats why.

I have been running for 40 years, and, knock on wood, never get shoulder cramps. But I suppose it is very common, since it means poor oxygen supply to the area, or lack of calcium or magnesium in the affected area. Maybe warmups before running can prevent it.

Yes, actually I get them too! I get bad neck cramps. It happens because as you run you tense nearly muscle in your body, sometimes without merit. My suggestion is to think about staying relaxed when you run. If you make yourself relax the muscles in your shoulders, it should help. So stop shrugging your shoulders! : )

yes , it is totally normal...but you can train enough where this will not occur down the road...it is more a cramp of "being ill prepared"...train more and it will go away
