I wanted to know if it is okay for me to atleast have a lap band surgery?

Some doctors say its okay but others say its not, if I can what site can I go to to find a specific doctor?

No people!
im not talking about bypass surgery, im talking about the LAP BAND surgery

Nothing is being cut, only a special band is being place on my stomach. My mom says she supports me if I go throught it.

Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass and lap band surgery have become very common and very safe now. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges Obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her Obesity surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

Is there a camp or something you can go to for losing weight?
Surgery should be a last resort, but I can understand your health is at risk. If you do have surgery make sure it is reversible. Some gastric surgeries create more health problems than they solve. And make sure you have an ethical doctor who isn't just doing surgeries for the money (it's a lucrative field).
I, personally, would either look for a camp or live in clinic to lose weight, or get a personal coach. (can't cost more than the surgery). You'll learn more, stay healthier longer, and have fewer long-lasting/lifetime side effects.
One other thought is to check with these TV shows that pay YOU to be in a program. Or write Oprah,
In the meantime, you are off to a good start by dieting and realizing you need help. You might even check out Overeaters Anonymous. Another thing you might do is see an endocrinologist and see if it is a glandular problem that caused you to gain weight to this degree.
I admire your courage. Do get someone to treat your blood pressure too. Losing weight will help WHEN you do (not IF), but you don't want to let the high blood pressure go too long. Even young people have strokes and heart attacks.
I think you'll find it easier to deal with Depression and Social Anxiety when you get your physical problems behind you. So that is one more thing, get some counseling to help you through all this.
Are your parents committed to helping you? If not, find a friend, relative, or adult that is.
Best of luck, and I know you can do it. Take care!

You will still have to diet and the diet after one of those surgeries sucks. What you need is exercise. Lack of exercise is causing your mental instability and depression. Start taking a vitamin and find an activity that you love. Try roller skating!! Its great exercise that's addictive! Its like flying! I know its hard to get started but you need to. It will take a while to feel the benefit but don't give up. Your body needs exercise like it needs food, water and sleep. Without it your body breaks down. Build some muscle and the weight will come off easier. I promise. Don't put your self through such a dangerous and unnecessary proceedure. You will be miserable. Just get a little more active. Do more, eat less, that is the only way to loose weight without surgery. No it will not happen over night. But if you want to live a long happy life you need to get started. Start now when your young, its even harder when you get older. You will have to completely get rid of fast food and sodas from your diet. Soda is causing America to have diabetes. High fructose corn syrup is toxic, too much for too long and your body responds with diabeties. You do have a choice. You are in control. Make up your mind to get healthy and get to work. You may thank me one day. It feels good to sweat and be tired from a work out. There is no better stress reliever than that, I promise.

It is okay to have this surgery but only when nothing else is working. Remember you are going to have part of your stomach clipped and that is not natural. You may have to take lifelong supplements like Iron and Vitamins as their absorption may be affected. You may also have to change your eating habbits. It always works but there is a price to pay and you also have to go through the risks of a surgery.

That surgery is difficult to recover from, and should only be a last resort.

Yes, losing weight is slow, but remember, you didn't gain all that weight overnight, and you cannot lose it overnight! Continue to eat healthy food and lose that weight! And as you go along, you can work on your other issues.

Good luck!

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!
