Well first, there is no such thing as a 500,000 volt taser.
Secondly, yes it is considered assault.
And even more important, the courts have ruled that an Officer may use deadly force against a suspect armed with a taser or stun gun.
The reason being, that if the Officer was incapacitated by the taser or stun gun, the Officers life would be in jeopardy because he would not be able to defend himself.

Did you really need to ask this question? But since you did, look at the answers you received. They (almost) all said yes it's illegal. So in the event that you do find a 500,000 volt taser, and you do decide to assault the officer, I have a few suggestions: make sure your Mommy has a picture of you (so that she will remember what you looked like), and in the event that you survive, bring your jammies and a toothbrush (you'll need them in jail).

YES! Any physical contact including spitting or throwing an object at an officer is assault. In Michigan it's a felony with up to 2 years of prison time waiting for you.

Now this is actually funny. No, we think of this stuff as "extra training" and really appreciate the public's help in these areas. So go ahead, sneak up on one and zap him. Stick around because we will need to know where to send the "Thank You Good Citizen" award afterwards.

Hmmmmm, let's think about this shall we?If an officer shocked you with a tazer for no other reason than to see you convulse, wouldn't you charge him with assault?

In many states it is a felony to even point a laser pointer at a cop. If you were to attempt to taze a cop he would be authorized to kill you in self defense. Any time you attempt to incapacitate a police officer they are authorized to use deadly force. That includes trying to use pepper spray against them.

I;m going to go out on a limb and guess that may actually be murder. 500,000 volts is quite a few.

YES. They are a cop. Did you do this? The only case that you might be able to get away without a punishment would be if they were trying to rape you. Other then that don't do it.

I don't think so , I mean the pay is the same and it comes with the territory, that they should be assaulted and tazer'd every now and then . Besides it's not likely they will remember their own name afterwords much less yours .
