She is on Prisolec 30mg 2xday and Reglan 10mg 2xday head of bed elevated and we have tried zofran and phenergan does not stop vomiting. She goes days before it just settles down on own. Has been hospitalized 3 times in last 2 mo. visited er/dr 5 times in last 2 mo. Surgeon doesn't want to do fundoplication. At wits end.

With that percentage of stomach moving, I would opt for surgery to repair the hernia, and stop the constant erosion, vomiting and other unpleasant and dangerous side effects.

If she's overweight, the most important thing she can do is get skinny. I imagine she's already taking an H2-blocker or proton pump inhibitor and probably a motility agent even with the normal motility study. Surgery, such as the NIssen fundoplication, is less common now than in years past. Is the head of her bed up on blocks? Also, that stomach juice is hard on the teeth. Nag her about dental care (it's a parent's prerogative) if needed.

For the vomiting, ask your doctor about Zofran (not sure of the spelling). My wife had SEVERE vomiting when she was pregnant with our daughter and this was the only thing that stopped it. The erosion of the esophogus, try Nexium (thepurplepill.com). Hope this helps!
