I heard that if you drive long distances in certain Japanese cars with hard seats...it is possible to get that way. If you had almost no symptoms, it is good that they caught it.

First , I 'd like to say that I've been diagnosed with DVT 3x's and have been hospitalized for having several clots in my lungs (PE). The first time My leg just hurt! No redness, no hot feeling, nothing, just pain, I thought I had bumped my leg up against something and didnt realize it. I went to the emergency after having spoke with a nurse on the phone. She told me to immediately get to an ER. So I did, they did an ultrasound and found nothing! They sent me home on Tylenol and Ibuprofen. The pain got worse. I went back 3 days later and they found a clot. This time I could hardly walk.
Second time - there was just a little cramp feeling that would come & go periodically for about a month. At the time, I wasnt taking any meds as you only have to take med (coumadin) for 6 months the first time around. If indeed one gets a second clot, they're instructed to be a meds for life.
Third time- Hmph, hardly noticed a thing, mild cramp, thought I was overreacting. I go to the ER again, do another ulterasound. Next thing I know, I'm being admitted to the hospital. Turns out I had clots in my lungs too. Thank Goodness they found them. I may not be here right now to tell the story.
Long Story short, my symptoms were not what you consider the typical symptoms....if you are concerned and do not have a logical explanation for your leg pain, I strongly encourage you to call a nurse and talk with him/her. They will ask you a series of questions to determine if you need to see someone immediately or not.
One more thing, I was on birth control at one time for 5 years. Go figure!

Usually if you have a blood clot it will be red, tender to the touch, and it might have red streaks running from it. It will also feel really hot like you have fever in it. If you suspect you have a blood clot you should see a doctor. More than likely they will only make you prop your leg up and keep compresses on it, but it is important to see your doctor anyway.

It is unlikely at your age to develop, a blood clot in your leg, but it can happen, if you notice swelling, pain, area is hot to touch, do not rub it at all, and go asap to your doctor.

The person you describe is at very low risk for thromboembolic disease, but there's nobody at zero risk. Wierd and rare things are each individually rare, but as a group they happen all the time.
