what do you need to have to get into the Air Force Academy? Like do you need a certain GPA or what? Are there certain activities to do that give you a better chance of getting accepted? What can you do to better your chances?

For the Academy you'll want to get the highest GPA you can and have a very high SAT/ACT score. There is no set score to get in, but the higher your score the better. These scores will comrpise 60% of your admissions score.

Another 20% will be your activity in the community so get involved in clubs at your school. But dont just be a member of a bunch of clubs, they would rather see you in a leadership position in a few clubs or team sports. Be the President of one club, team captain of a team, Vice President of something else and maybe be a member of one or two others. If you get into National Honors Society or Key CLub that does community service projects those are also good.

The last 20% comes from your essay, an interview you'll have with an Air Force Officer called an ALO, and your candidate fitness test.

While a nomination from your senator or congressman is a final requirement for admission it is not taken into consideration when actually deciding to admit you. They may decide to give you a conditional admission and then see if you can get the nomination. If so then you will be in. Also it is possible to get an appointment from the Vice President or the President under certain conditions.

If you should not get admitted on your first try then it is not the end of the world. You can continue to apply; however, you must complete the full four year program so you will start as a freshman no matter the credits you recieve from other colleges. There is one cadet currently at the Academy who completed a degree at Notre Dame and then was admitted to the Academy and had to start as a freshman like everyone else.

Good Luck, and be sure to do plenty of research and attend Summer Scientific Seminar as a junior in HS and appointee weekend as a senior. The Academy is not for everyone and it is in your best interest to go into it as educated as possible.

You need to get the highest GPA you can get and be active during your high school years; whether it be marching band, football team, or have a job...You need to be doing something. Charity work looks good on the application, and so does JROTC (Now that Army/Marines, but Im assuming they have one for the Air Force too; if you dont know what that is email me and Ill go into depth). And for the Military Academys you need to have a recommendations from a person in government of your state (Senator, governor, representatives, someone), so email some all that you can and tell them what your doing...I bet one of them will write a recommandation.

Good Luck to you.
