My boyfriend isn't originally from the US, I am. I'm not insanely patriotic at all, but my boyfriend has been talking really insultingly about the USA lately.. I never really cared, but it seems/feels like he is getting personal with it. Now when he is talking about the USA, he says it like "you people," and stuff like that.
What should I tell him?

Tell him you are going to look for a boyfriend amongst your people. This has little to do with you being American. If you stay with this person the attacks will become more personal over time. Cultural differences should be appreciated in relationships or the person should move on. Trust me "you people" will soon become "you 88888." Makes no difference the nationality. He is just testing to see if he can break you down. Move on; the sooner the better. Xenophobics are the worst.

If it's irritating enough, you should tell him to go back to his own country and/or just shut it.
