Religion was told orally, and on that note, that is how is was passed on. Now The NT wasn't put together until 130 A.D. when people were forgetting about J.C. and his message. Now, it's concievable for certain scholars to say "He never existed." Jesus was witnessed by the poor, and refuted by the rich, and as we know higher men of esteem have dark resources. So you must look into the "early Church Fathers." (Papias: Wrote 5 books called, "Oracles of the Lord." in which, he admits, he did not follow Jesus, nor heard the words he spoke, but learned from the elders who had heard him speak, and of the Apostles, who spoke his words. And these were ORAL traditions that he wrote down. But, I believe these are in fragments now, but commented by Eusebius,"The Father of Church History" and a few other esteemed men of his time. And check this out: Most world conquerors we read about used a sword. But J.C. is the only one who never carried a sword and conquered the world with words of wisdom. So, do you see why history scholars might not look so fondly on J.C.?

If you cannot have faith and believe, then you cannot follow the religion, simple as that. If you need to have Jesus's bones found or a piece of the true cross hand delivered, then religion is not the thing for you. Look into your heart; if god moves it, follow it! Don't give up a faith just because historical records get lost. Jesus existed, that is very clear, don't deny that the person lived. But science will never prove he did miracles, that is what makes it a faith.

I will try to explain; in short, Your church is partially right, in that your Faith Is and should forever be sufficiant. But, as you are trying to do an essay for school or a research paper. I can assure you that the Shroud of Turin is real, and is the burial clothe that was placed on Jesus Christ prior to his being laid in the tomb. I have a cousin whom was able to see this first hand . There are alot of historical artifacts that coincide with every verse of the bible, and alot of Athiest who have spent their whole lives to try to dismiss the Bible, have in Fact only found evidence that further proves the words that are written there. Perry Stone is a historian, He has access to many Artifacts and Facts that would really be Key to your research. WWW.PerryStone Ministries.com I assure you you will be duly impressed. If you would like to have Biblical Text Studies, I can assist you in this area as well. Your Faith is as real as the Lifes blood that flows in your vains. To every man is given the measure of Faith; people just dont realize it, but you use it every day of your life, and ypou would not exhist if it were not true. Yes, I can Prove this as FACT.

Yes, and it is only the tip of the iceberg if you really start digging and questioning. For me I'm not Christian anymore. Its okay for me, I found what works for me. For some people it is more of a problem. Ultimately, the answer you will start getting repeatedly as questions come up is that it is a matter of faith. You have to make the decision whether faith alone is enough or right for you and how deeply you believe or are vested in your religion. Best wishes.

Only the evil and stupid will tell you to abandon all knowledge and "just have faith". These people tend to have no faith and cannot stand any type of fact or truth thrust upon themselves because their faith is too weak to withstand truth.
Study everything, always look for the truth because any TRUE faith has truth as its solid bedrock layer.
FYI the tomb of Jesus was found in the 70s. Does this diminish anything he did in his life or the value of what he taught. No. It just means that corporeal remains were found.

Yes you should stop all research and believe your faith. Religious belief is emotional and it feels good. Research doesn't feel nearly as good as religious belief.
After being dead three days Jesus got up and started walking around like nothing ever happened, not only that he rose into the sky barely three weeks later.
He took his earthly body and the clothes he was wearing and floated into Heaven. He is now the only one in Heaven with an earthly body and earthly clothes.

All you have to know from secular history is that in fact a man named Jesus was crucified under Pontius Pilate. The Bible gives detailed accounts about them as well as testimony that he wasnt just a carpenter.
The Q is, do you have the faith to believe their testimony? If he is not the Messiah then who is? The problem is you are letting the world tell you that Jesus doesnt exist so they can try to hide in their sins and take you with them.
Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. -Matthew 10:32

To find truth you must believe,
Daniel's 200300 days divided by 360 equals April 19, 33 AD
Daniel's 100290 days divided by 360
Daniel's 1003530 days divided by 360
Seventy times seven
7 Ages, 7 Saesons, 7 Little Seasons
each has 6 days of work 1 day of rest
A TIME = 19,6 Billion years
TIMES = 1,960 years (2 each)
A HALF TIME = 980 years
Generation = 20, 40, 400, 4,000, 40,000, 400,000... etc

My recommendation would be to get your hands on a copy of Josh McDowell's "New Evidence That Demands a Verdict". Years ago he set out to prove Christ and Christianity to be false, and was overwhelmed by evidence to the contrary. I believe this book lists references and etc, so you won't have to quote everything as coming from this book. You should be able to look up your answers in his original sources. It's been a while since I've looked at it. Go to his website www.beyondbelief.com.
Ultimately it is for each of us to decide in ourselves what we believe and why we believe it. It would be awesome for each of us to be able to answer questions about our faith, or even lack of faith, with certainty and conviction. We should all question everything we know, all we've been taught, and take ownership in what we believe. Believe not because of tradition but because of a deep personal relationship. One where even in the midst of other's criticsim, doubt and cynicism, you know Christ was and is, because you've experienced his reality yourself.
Soapbox: Those of us who believe need to love and accept those who do not. Christ wasn't here in judgement and criticism of those who did not consider themselves religious. He loved them. He spent time with them, and he "convinced" them through healthy relationships with them. He was able to accept the person without condoning their lifestyles. He simply loved them. If "they'll know we are christians by our love" then there are a lot of people that will find themselves spending an eternity with the very people they judged.

Look where you are trying to find your "evidence"- from the very world that rejected Him, and delivered Him up, for death; for telling them about God. Everyone goes through this; it is a time of awakening- to become accountable for you own beliefs about God, and your own relationship with Him. Seek Him, ask Him to give the answers to you. Then you will get it.
