Did you know what you wanted to do?

Im going into grade 11 soon. Taking co-op with police..
The problem is my parents are strict and all. Its like NEED for them, that for me, any government job is MUST , preffered a cop.

I agreed of being a cop, to make my parents happy, and this idea kind of just got into my head "Ill be a police officer"
Now Im thinking..

"Is this what i really want? No.. just to make my parents proud."

But its my 50 years of living. I really dont know what to do with my future, I like colors and design, but also being active and controlling things. My parents are paying for my university, I told them if they dont let me be what I think I should do, Ill go with student loans, but they aren't letting me

Tell your parents that you appreciate the fact the are willing to pay for your education but you would like to be able to explore different things.
Suggest to them (this will save them money) that you go to Community College to get your first two years of college. There you can explore many different things while you get your core classes down. Then you will have had time to see what you want to be for the rest of your life. :-)

Remember though no matter what you start out doing you will most likely change careers at least twice in your lifetime. So any education is a good thing. :-)

Nope.

My freshman year of high school, I was sure that I wanted to go to a small, liberal arts school and major in creative writing. And I DIDN'T want to live in a city.

By my senior year of high school, I'd decided that creative writing was a **** major and that I'd rather major in international relations. However, I was still set on a small, liberal arts school that was not in a city.

I'm presently attending the University of Pennsylvania, a huge, decidedly non-liberal arts school in the middle of Philadelphia.

I also discovered that becoming an international relations major requires economics, which I have always loathed. So, instead, I'm a political science major.

Anyone's guess as to what I'll be by the time I graduate.

Just because you start with one career doesn't mean you have to be stuck with it all your life. If you are interested in being a police officer, try it out. It will get you out from under your parent's control, then you can choose to take college courses part time while you are making your own money.

Your parents can certainly express a preference for what they would like you to do, but you need to choose based on what YOU want, not what THEY want! Don't choose a career based on what you're "supposed to" do.

You don't need to decide now what you want to do. Now is a great time to explore LOTS of different things, and get a better idea of the things that you enjoy. Volunteer in your community, to get a sense of the types of work that you might like to do. In college, take classes in a bunch of areas.

Good luck!

It's common for college students to change majors at least once in their college careers. I started studying history, but switched to English after my first year. I was in secondary education for a while, but dropped it in my last year and took a straight BA in English.

You should listen to what your parents suggest, but the ultimate decision must be your own.

i'm 14 and a freshman. my community college lets me go to college for free (except the cost of books).
i know what i want to do (which is become a doctor) but unlike you my parents support my choice and not force anything else.
do what you think is best for you.
hope this helps and i hope it works out for you.
