Well what are your dreams? What do you dream of doing?
Go after your dreams........as you mature so will your dreams but don't ever quit dreaming. You will be successful at what ever you choose to do. Best regards, the Professor with a hammer.

You will know when you have found exactly what is good for you and what is best when you have tried several things that are suited for the kind of person you are. The best advice I can give you is to remain honest to yourself and do not compromise on what your instinct tells you no avoid or that are not something you would not be happy to do. You are probably still a young kid and have time ahead of you to select whichever makes you happy. Then, you will be able to choose and decide based on what you know about it! And that goes for all of your choices of course!
Now, freedom of choice is given to all humans and whatever the choice is, they have to deal with the consequences.

Ex:

If you decide to take a job just because it will earn you a lot of money, then you should contemplete other options. You are in the right section. LOL
Happiness is more important than money! Too bad we can't do without it! LOL

Dear Ocean,

You could spend your whole life "finding yourself." Instead why not consider some of the things you really like, or that interest you and pursue them! Surely there is something of value in your life today that has made you think about as a career in life. Do you like animals? How about a Vet. or Vet. Assistant? Also consider a business management curriculum which may help you administrate at an animal shelter, etc... Ask a local vet..

Do you like science? Math? What interests you about them? Specifically, is it the stars, computers, numbers, solving problems? Then I'd consider something in biology, biomedical, bio engineering, or research. You could ask your family doctor where to start...

Do you want to work in a hospital? Physical Therapy? Psychology? Contact your nearest hospital and ask if they have a co-op or volunteer program you can enroll in. It will give you a taste, and you can talk to a LOT of people who specialize in areas of interest to you.

Do you like journalism? Get involved in your school's newsletter. Contact your local newspaper and ask about a mentor program.

Hope these help a little..

Most of the people I've come across in my life did not have a set career in mind of what they wanted to be. They knew where their interests were and they went with that, with the faith that it would lead to something more. I know someone who works in a high level government position--she never planned to do that, but what she studied and jobs after that led her to a fascinating job. I know many other people who are in jobs/careers that they didn't actually plan on doing, but that's just kind of how things worked out and they are glad about it.

So, my advice to you is to stop thinking about how to decide what to be. :) Be yourself. Follow your interests. Keep learning about what sort of jobs and careers are related to those interests. Have faith that it will all work out. And know that a growing number of people today do not stay in the same field their entire lives. Go with what you are passionate about now.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I didn't make a final decision about what to register for in university until I had to request the application form for the specific faculty. And I know a ton of people who changed what they were studying after (or during) their first year. Life is an adventure, not a test requiring right answers. :)

Try to find something that will match your natural talents and interests. The first step is to discover who you are as a person.

Life experience will help you identify your passion/s. It's quite a challenge to decide at 18 y old what you think that you will want to do for the rest of your life.

yeah,,, im goin into high school and i'm stuck between like a bizillion careers. go talk to your counseller or someone. choose what you really like.... dont get pushed into what your friends want to do so you do the same. and trust me there are soooooo many jobs that your teachers dont even mention to you. most people think of the basics like a teacher, firefighter, secratary,, blah, blah, blah. but theres something for everybody.

Teacher is right! You can only be you. Do what makes you happy. Don't spend your life doing what other people suggest.
