what you should do is buy some scissors that have a sort of bend at the end and wrap the bird in a dishrag or something warm and fluffy to calm it. Then clip the outer longer wings(about 6 or 7 of them) known as "flight feathers". Clipping these will keep the bird from being able to fly and she will simply 'fall with style'. To test if you have clipped them well, hold the bird on your arm and drop your arm. The bird will instinctively try to fly off of the unstable pirch and either fly some of half glide/half fall down. Don't worry the clipping doen't hurt th bird and will need to be done about once a month or if you see the bird somewhat able to fly sooner then you should go ahead and clip them again. For more help with this see if you can find a bird breeder in your area or ask someone at a pet store.

You can also try putting something outside like one of those plastic owls in a nearby tree.
You can also hang something from the eaves of the house like those silver swirly windflags or banners.
The decal in the window usually works.
You could also hang bird feeders away from that window so the birds are not as attracted to it.

Hanging something like a stained glass ornament in it will help. Or some kind of removable stickers. You probably keep it sqeaky clean, huh? A small bird's vision isn't all that great. Maybe even a sheer curtain. When it's that clean and clear they just don't realize they can't fly thru it. It's just another ig open space to them. My macaw bounced off my picture window once. So I hung a stained glass ornament in the center.

Many stores (especially stores that cater to wild bird enthusiast. like 'Wild Birds Unlimited') sell a cling on decal to put on the window to keep birds from flying into it.

This may sound cruel, but if you go to any pet professional, they'll tell you the same thing. To keep your birds safe, you need to clip the tips of their wings off. To know exactly how much to trim, go to any pet store that sells birds, and they'll show you exactly. It may sound cruel, but your birds will enjoy it much more than hitting a window and dying.

One time this company sent me dark, silhouettes of a hawk or falcon diving. They said put it on the windows for this reason.
The silhouettes were only about 5" long. It may've been the Audubon Society......
good luck

The birds are seeing their reflection in the glass ,, try using a film that shields the sun from glaring in the window and that should do it

Here is a site with a great product to put in your window. It is pretty much invisable to humans but birds can see it.

My mom has that problem. She's put reflective mylar strips on the window so the birds know to avoid it--yeah, it looks tacky but it's better than finding dead birds under the window.
