Where I am a professional carpenter earns from 50 to 150 thousand a year.
It is only a middle class trade.
In the 1rst century to say a carpenter would have meant about the same as saying contractor today. He would not have been considered as a labourer.

No, absolutely not. Luke was a doctor, who was a servant (slave) of Paul. There was no middle class among the Jews. You either were rich or poor. Jesus' family was poor.
