Colds are caused by virus,
Coughs come from any irritant that may be anything, including a bacterial or viral infection.
Ice water causes cold sensations . . . unless it is contaminated (like mountain water where the animals have been going to the bathroom in it)

Ice water is not the cause.
But during times of cold or cough, ice water will worsen it.
Be nice to your body, drink hot lemon water with honey.
