Why do we hv to put those little stickers on our vehicles?? I know you hv to register your cars, but why the need for the stickers? Cops hv access to their computer data base from their vehicles and can verify if your vehicle registration is paid up and current, by inputting your License plate # in their system.

Obviously none of these people live in Texas. They did away with the little stickers on the license plate years ago as too many people were stealing them. Our license plate has no renewal sticker on it. The registration renewal sticker is in the lower left hand corner of the windshield where the cop can't see it unless he pulls you over and walks up to look.

Law enforcement and the licensing agency for your state use the number stamped on the tag/tab for identification purposes. If those numbers don't match what's on record, problems occur. It's not your license plate that gets you in trouble, most of the time, it's the number on the tab/tag

Because this way cops know simply by LOOKING, rather than having to run every single plate they see.
What, would rather have cops playing license plate bingo to see if some cheapskate paid their registration rather than looking out for criminals or answering your 911 call??

Why do you have to carry your license? Just memorize the number, and they can look that up to.

Because the law says you will show a valid month and year sticker on your plate.

I would definitely challenge it. Based on the information provided I am sure if you explained your case if it goes to court, they would see that there was no intent. Do you think your wife would testify, or write a letter stating she accidentally gave you the wrong tags? That would help. I would contact legal aid and speak to them about it, they would have a better idea (unless there are any lawyers on here) Good luck.

i see your point but she is right, they will know that your vehicle is registered by that sticker, you may also have a warrant, and when they run that plate, they will find out real quick and ruin your day

This way they can tell at a glance. They can't call in every plate they see all day long.
