Why do you suppose that many Scientists and Astronauts turn to God?
I mean look at some of the smartest people in History: Most believed in God
People like:
Jonathan Wells
Stephen Meyer
Lee Strobel
Sir Isaac Newton
Albert Einstein thought of a higher power
Do you suppose that they Know something you don't, maybe they have open minds and realize that evolution does not give the answers? Maybe just maybe they realized that in order for the world to be the way it is, it had to be created?
What do you think?

Your list of some of the "smartest people in history" is very strange. Your last two names are fine, but the first three would not appear on any serious list, and show your bias.
Einstein did not think of a "higher power" the way you mean it, I am sure of that. He made it very clear that he disagreed with the concept of a "personal god", i.e a god that listens to prayers.
Seriously, you have reached a conclusion, and are now trying to bolster your argument by appealing to authority. This is a logical fallacy and is not an indication of an open mind.

Why can't someone believe in God and find truth in the Theory of Evolution? I do. I am a biologist and throughout my career, I have learned that the two must be separated in order to be at peace with oneself. Science does not seek to prove or disprove God's existance because God is not Science, He is supernatural. He is above the laws of Nature and cannot be explained by Science. Science and Religion seek answers in different planes. Science explains the natural and Religion explains the supernatural. That is why there is no internal conflict for me. Evolution is a FACT backed up by 150 years worth of evidence. Is God behind it? That is not a question of science, but a question of faith and science does not seek to answer that question.
Personally I feel that God guides the process of Evolution, but I can not prove or disprove that He does, but rather I have faith that He does. I can witness evolution by looking at the fossil record and by comparing the variety of organisms on earth to each other.
It really annoys me to see this battle between scientists and believers in faith. At least half of all scientists ARE believers in God or some deity. Some scientists piss me off when they say that there is no God. That kind of claim is NOT science. And it makes me mad when people pass judgment on evolution before they see what evidence it provides. Does anyone seem to get upset over the Theory of Relativity? Science and religion both state that anything is possible. Did God create the universe, or did it come from nothing? Who knows, not even experts in religion or science can tell.

Albert Einsteins SAID DIRECTLY HE WAS NOT AN ATHEIST and he favored the views of a friend of his who had NICE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT JESUS.
Even Einstein had nice things to say about Jesus.
Maybe the reason the weatherman is wrong more than right is God is punishing all those Atheists!
You know that Astronaughts who read from the Bible got sued by an Atheist!
Maybe Christians oughta start suing Atheists.
Maybe if we get a few judgements or kill a few scientific grants they'll learn to be more PC and humanistic.
Maybe Christians should start going after the Dawkins of the world in the Courts and the NEws and maybe frighten the Philanthropic community a little.
Dry up some funding.
Make being a loud mouth atheist not popular.

Why is it a big deal when scientists and astronauts turn to God? Bottomline they are humans like everyone else who have a hunger for God.
BTW Lee Strobel was neither a scientist nor an astronaut. He was a journalist who became a believer after being an atheist.

I dont know whether you believe in Evolution,Dinosaurs,Carbon Dating and the rest of the things found by Science and proved vehemently that the Bible is incorrect.
As far as the scientists are concerned many of them were still curious about GOD cause in those days the Church was still predominant in society.
Now you see the Church being mocked everywhere be it in Simpsons or comedy shows.
Whether God exists or not is still a mystery.
But at least it has een proved he is nothing like anything mentioned in Bible or Quran or Torah.

Why bother with religion when it has no meaning, truth, or sheer poossibility behind it!!!! About the geniuses, they weren't exactly devout as far as we know. they could have been going to church/temple while in the field or lab they could think perfectly logically and "aetheist-like" Also, a true story. I actually thought of some of their ideas like relativity and motion and force before I even heard of the laws. These guys were just the first to make these ideas go public. This means they might have been the first because of their religion. Nack then, you probably would be ignored/persecuted if you were an aetheist, so maybe that happened to the real people who first thought of these scientific concepts.

I am a scientist, and I believe in a higher power. Much like your list, I don't believe in the God of Abraham. Sir Isaac Newton repeatedly spoke against God's cruelty. Einstein was not Christian, he had a beautiful and complex idea of divinity. Many scientists believe in the divine, very few are Christian. There are many scientist who are atheists, and many who don't really care. We don't believe in Creation, I know very few, even those who are Christian, who actually believe in Creation. Most think that the stories are the legends of history and have value as that, not as a literal description of anything. It was a valiant effort, but most scientists know the species evolved. Nice try, read more and come back later.

Albert Einstein certainly did not believe in a personal god.
Yes, there are exceptions, but in general the more educated a person is the less likely they are to have harmful habits like smoking or religion.
Isn't it strange, though, how Newton didn't think anything at all of evolution? I really wonder why.
Gazoo: which nation? I'd love to see a list - by country.

In addition to being pitifully short, the beliefs of those on your list are more complicated than you are obviously aware.
Einstein and Newton, for example are not the only agnostic/atheistic scientist to use the word God in a sentence. Even Stephen Hawking has used it.
In response to those who took Einstein’s use of the word God to assume him to be religious, Einstein himself said:
---“It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.”

The fact that Newton's interests were not strongly biological is maybe secondary to the fact that he died more than 30 years before Darwin published 'Origin of Species'.

Yes you are so right and some of the sarcastic answers just show that many people are so bent on disproving God that they refuse to except the truth as to what others believed.
And, of course, your list is very short as to the real number of scientists and biologists and many others that believe in God.
