is this the result of our childhood seeing nothing but domestic violence and abuse, and being forced by parents as young kids growing up to act like nothing has happened to everybody?

Could be . . . but I wouldn't overanalyze it. My brother and I lived in a great family atmosphere, but sometimes we just really went for the throat -- literally! Of course, we didn't wait till the next day, it was usually the next minute or even the next hour. That's love for you! Stick with each other no matter what! Don't feel too guilty about the violence. It probably just means that you and your siblings say what you think to each other, no matter what, and that usually leads to fist fights. However, it does clear the air. Maybe you guys make up quickly because you have resolved the argument and you realize that it is pointless to be mad at each other forever. At least, that's what we do. (Of course, if you start using knives and hatchets, you might want to seek counseling!)

No don't take it so seriously. They are kids and they just has a little spat if it wasn't about something serious then there is no reason for either of them to hold a grudge. Dont analyze them you sound like a shrink trying to create issues out of nothing. Unless there is already violence in the home then what would be your reason to come to this conclusion?
