As a mom, one thing I've told my kids is "no perfume." Fragrance is such a personal thing that unless you're getting something you know she likes - I would probably not get perfume.
I would go with jewelry. I don't think you can go wrong there, especially if you've taken the time and thought to choose it for her.
And, being a "sappy" mom, if you were to write a little something in her card about how special she is to you and why - it would be nice. Actually, that would be a really sweet gift. Take her out to dinner and give her the card maybe with a single rose to go with it.
You're a dear to care so much about you mom - I hope you both have a great day!

Try a music box. Most people don't think of them as suitable gifts, but they are really nice gifts from the heart. Pick one with a either a tune that is really meaningful (I always play Wind Beneath My Wings for my mom) or a theme that says something about her ex: Loves to garden, get her a garden themed music box. You get the idea.

In addition to all of this, music boxes remind us of when we were children -- it makes us kids again. And even if someone has a bad childhood, something childish gives them a chance to live the childhood they didn't have.

You can usually get a really nice music box for around $50 or so. Go shopping around the superstores like K-mart, Wal-mart, or others, and don't forget to check out local novelty shops. A lot of times, they have the best deals yet!

Good luck, and tell us what you get her, and how she likes it!

How about some quality time with her. the two of you could go to dinner, or some other activity that you both like. At dinner you could both spend time talking together and really enjoying each others company. Sometimes that is better than any gift. Or go to a photography studio and have a picture done of the two of you and get a nice frame.

well, it really depends - some woman like perfume, but they like to pick it out theirselves my mom likes "ralph lauren" perfume... or maybe what about a gift card to somewhere nice? even a resturant so she could have a special night out with her daughter ;0) and then mabybe take her to the movies or something??.... a gift card to somewhere like pier 1, or some kitchen store or something. or are there any events coming to your area that you could order tickets too? a necklace could also be nice, as long as you know that your mom will like & wear it. my mom is hard to buy for too, her birthday is also next week and she is getting (at her request) CHOCOLATE!! and of course a gift card ;0)
hope this helps.

Why don't you take your mom on a mother/daughter day - and spend your $50 on manicures for both of you, or a really nice lunch together. Take it from me, I am a mom and I would love having the day with one of my kids better than any gift they could buy for me. It sounds like you love your mom a lot, show her and she will have a great birthday.

I think she would be happy with anything. I would say parfume or an ancel braclet. They have gold braclets for under 50 and that is something she could keep forever. I think a thumb ring would be nice. Kmart,Sears, Khols, and Target all sell those... U could get a small bottle of parfume and a bracelet at target or tjmaxx

Spending quality time with your mom would be great. If you really want to purchase her something, buy her something that she could cook with, but not too expensive, such as a kitchen gadget.
