The card issuers can do a light touch which does not count against You. i was informed of this by experian because I got buried with them, and was alarmed that my credit rating would get hit. but as stated before, If you give them permission for a full report you will get zapped

No. Indications that you received a pre-screened offer will only appear on the version of your credit report that you see when you request it from the bureaus. Lenders who request your credit report do not see these notations, and they do not affect your credit score. If you choose to apply, the bank will request an updated credit report. If you are making lots of loan applications in a short period of time, that could hurt your credit score.

No, "soft" inquiries from pre-screened offers and your credit checks do not harm your score. Only "hard" inquiries for items you apply for hurt your score (as long as they are made more than 14 days apart).

yup. every time someone asks to look at your credit report it is noted. there is a way to get them to stop, but i can't recall how to now :(

ONLY IF YOU CALL AND LET THEM RUN YOUR CREDIT. IT CAN HURT YOUR SCORE IF YOU LET THEM RUN YOUR CREDIT IF MORE THEN ONCE OR TWICE IT WILL START TO EFFECT YOUR SCORE
