I did it, just last week.
I was waiting with my mother near the admitting desk of the hospital where she goes for her chemotherapy when we happened to overhear a young man talking on a payphone nearby. He was telephoning a friend because his wife had been admitted to the emergency ward, judged to have a problem that was best treated at another hospital, and was being sent there by ambulance. The problem: the young man didn't have money for parking his car a second time that day, and was asking his friend if he could stop by and borrow a few bucks to cover it.
My mother and I looked at each other, our hands already reaching for our wallets. We gave the young man $10 (which was what we had handy between us) -- the LAST thing anyone would want to do when their wife is on the way to another hospital is to make a side-trip to get money, and that way at least he had some extra change for coffee or a muffin if he ended up waiting there a long time.
You should have seen the look on his face. He was utterly amazed that two total strangers would offer him any help. When he got over his astonishment, he thanked us profusely and then darted off to pick up his wife's things before heading over to the other hospital.
So yes, I'm with you. I always have been. Random acts of kindness are a concrete way of making the world a better place to live in for everybody.

This year I have helped 5 total strangers so for. In my life I've helped thousands. I don't care if your a stranger, if you need help and I'm around I will help you. I have found this to be rewarding in just getting to meet other people. I don't know about others, but it makes me feel good knowing I helped someone today. If I can help somebody, call on me.

The last answer I gave was an act of kindness for a stranger....I stayed positive, yet the questioner obviously was trying to stir up controversy. I don't think it worked, though. Thanks for the challenge! People need to tolerate one another even through our differences......what a better place this would be.

I have done this today. I always hold the door open for the person who is behind me when I go in to a building.

I did that once. I carried an old lady from a building to her car because she tripped and twisted her ankle right in front of me.

Obviously me. I live to see other people happy. That's why one day I want to travel and aid third-world countries. I want to save the world! ;)

I do it all the time and it backfires on me all the time. I guess I'm not so smart since I still keep doing it.

This is not a question nor is it an answer.
There is a term for this (you can search for it yourself.)
If you want an example, read the four accounts and see if Jesus meets your challenge.
