First off contact the police dept to file a report for hit, and run.. That is more, or less what it would be.. Most likely your insurance company will require a report because then it shows you weren't at fault.. Now if the police won't file it for you. Then you have the right to file a self accident report either at the pd, or via internet.. If you have collision coverage on your policy then you can file a claim under that with your insurance.. I would also recommend getting an estimate first to see if the damages would be more, or less than your ded... As far as premiums go as long as there is a report that shows it wasn't your fault then your rates shouldn't go up.. The only time your rates should go up is if your in an accident, are at fault, and the damages to the other person are more than a grand, if there less than a grand then rates will stay the same... If your in an accident, and are NOT at fault damages could be 1 dollar to ten grand , and rates should stay the same.. Unless of course your accident prone, and have like 20 claims a year then they may still go up...

Yes, it will probably be covered. Depending on the damage, you will probably will want to get an estimate, because if the damage is less than your deductible, you should not file a claim. If it's real bad, yeah take it to your insurance company and just tell them what happened. It's the same as if you were hit by a hit and run driver.

Probably not worth it as you will have deductible on it. Go to Ebay and buy another one if need be.
