my parents are really strict and they dont think i am taking anyone to the prom but i am and i have to let them know soon

If they are very strict I would approach them calmly and very respobsibly. Let them know your thoughts and opinions about your prom and ask them when they would like to meet him to maybe get to know him or the plans for that night. Just be as mature as possible. Maybe they will lighten up if you take all the responsibilty into your own hands.

really strict as in they wouldnt let you have a date, or they may just dis-approve? theres a difference...
but i guess you should just tell the truth.
and if they dont want you to go with a date, then just meet your date at the prom. sure you wont go in together but you'll be able to dance the rest of the evening. i mean thats what you do there....dance. no big deal.

As corny as it sounds, bring him over for dinner a few times. Let them see him and get to know him way before the prom. That way, you will know how they feel about him long before it happens, and you can make your arrangements accordingly, whatever they might be.

i would say mom dad this is my friend ---- and allow them to get to know him a little then they might be more flexable.
