i have two dogs, one is a puppy (14 weeks 20lbs) that is a boxer/pitt mix... my older dog is a miniature pinscher that is 2 years old and about 10 lbs. my concern is my father in-law...he is convinced that the puppy will kill our little dog one day. sometimes the puppy gets a little to rough when they play but we put him in his place and have him summitt to her. (by laying him on his side untill he calms down) i think for a 14 week old pup he is doing great. he now knows the commands; no bite, drop it, sit, down, come, and stay. i do have experience training large natorious (SP?) "mean" dogs (rotties), lol. but i have never owned a small dog and a large dog together. it seems to me that they really love eachother and cuddle but just everyonce and a while he gets too rough with play, but stops when corrected. so do u think my father in-law is right and one day my big dog will kill my little princess?

the older dog deff. puts pup in his place (when he gets rough she lets him know and rolls him on his back, but we also try to reinforce it, because once he gets much bigger she isn't going to be able to do that!) but when she's had enough of him she just goes hops ontop the couch where he isn't allowed to go.

I adopted a boxer mix (9 weeks old) when my min pin was 1 year old. They are now 7 and 8 years old. They boys get along great. Everything should be fine. Good luck!!

Typical father in law. Always putting in their 2 cents worth. Thats about how much his statement to you is worth. 2 cents.

You puppy will be just fine!

well, when your puppy grows up he won't just play roughly! When it grows up it gets stronger muscles and teeth so I'd have to agree with your father-in-law! Just keep a watchful eye!

No, don't belive everything you here!! If he is a good dog keep him, he is probably happy that you are his owner!! He may be bigger but that doesn't mean he is going to harm you'r bigger dog. We shall fing out. He he

i do not think so the young dog prob just playing as u say and just dose not know when he to mean but the older one should let him know when enough is enough or he could be trying to be the dominating one and as long as you watch just let them figure our who the boss but killing no just play unless it gets were the older one is scared then i would be worried

I think you are right, your father in law is just full of hot air. the dogs love each other? why would that change?

Not if you keep a good eye on him when he is around your older dog.
