It does keep from moulding longer if you put it in the fridge.
How long depends on the bread. White bread lasts about 2-3 weeks, brown about the same. Sourdough bread, well... I'm still wating for mine to go bad, and it's been there for at least 5 weeks.
The only thing you have to remember is, that even though it isn't mouldy, it will go stale faster. The only thing you can do to un-stale bread is to toast it.
Hope that helps

Bread will last longer in the Fridge and is less likely to mold if eaten in a reasonable time frame

It'll go mouldy in the fridge if you aren't eating it too fast. If you want to make it completely mould-proof keep it in the freezer. Depending on how much you expect to eat, you can take down however many slices you want a little ahead of time, or if it isn't sliced, cut as much as you think you're going to need at one time and freeze the remainder. Even unsliced bread doesn't take that long to thaw.

It'll keep it from molding but it will go stale.
I keep it in the freezer & defrost it as I need it. It takes about 20 mins at room temp to thaw a few slices or just toast it frozen.
I also find that in the fridge it gets that yeasty smell/taste. Blah...

I'm not sure about that but I do buy extra loaves and freeze them. Since I like my bread soft and squishy, I keep it at room temp.
Did you know that if you over-bake a batch of cookies (so they are too hard, but not burnt) you can soften them buy putting them in a Ziploc or a cookie jar with one slice of bread? The moisture from the bread is absorbed by the cookies, thus softening them. The bread then dries out. If you don't believe it, you can test this out on oreos. It'll soften them too.

Yes, it does last longer. The only way to keep it from molding is to keep it in the freezer (in a freezer zip-lock bag), and take slices out as needed.
