Good for you! I always make sure my son's pants are pulled up...I don't care for the just-got-out-of-jail look!

BTW my son's jeans go up to just below his belly button, they cover his ankles, and he doesn't have a wedgie.

(Of course it's hilarious when police are chasing them and they trip over their pants...that'll learn 'em!)

Are you an old man, or maybe Steve Urkel from that TV show? Those are the only people I have ever seen wearing their pants that way. I know this question can't possibly be serious! Anyway, how would wearing your pants that way show respect? The other extreme, like wearing your pants so that the crotch hangs down around your knees, also isn't very becoming, but it's not disrepectful. Maybe you should relax a little and wear your pants at a normal height.

I think it is a little. You must have grown up that way. But boys these days are so bloody trendy it's not funny and doing something like that will definately hold your son back. There is nothing disrespectful with wearing pants below the belly button. The pants over the belly button look is a little dorky for children this day and age. Just no crack and they'll be right. Good luck with it

I think it's too extreme. When I see a guy who wears his pants that high, I don't think he's being respectful towards me. For one, that just makes his package more prominent if his pants are pulled up too high. It's also just not very comfortable looking or attractive (seriously no offense intended). Pants should rest comfortably on the hips. If your son isn't sagging and is an otherwise good kid, let him wear his pants the way he wants them.

that is the style today. Your son is not you (I have a nice "tone" when I write that--that looks like it could easily be taken wrong). My parents tried to turn my brother into them including the whole pants thing, and it didn't work. To say the least.

As long as he isn't showing off boxers or a lot of skin, I would let him have them a little lower. You could work on a compromise: he can wear them how he wants to school (he probably is anyways once you aren't there to see), but for special occasions (like church, weddings, etc), he wears them how you want him to until he turns 18. You are the parent: it is your house and you make the rules, but personally, I do feel that is a little extreme. My advice to you would be to pick your battles. Save what you won't budge on for the important things like curfew, parties, friends, etc.

If you mean you don't let him wear his pants belted halfway down his butt, showing his boxedrs and he's complaining.....I think you're in the right....I can't stand seeing the kids now days walking around that way.

I think if there's a lower cut that he wants to wear, (but not showing his rear end), you may want to consider letting him wear them. I say just make sure the pants are saggy and baggy. I know for girls they have a lower cut now days, I'm not sure about for boys.

Yes that is a bit harsh. At least if you want him to be respectful than make him tuck in his shirt, wear a tie, wear a belt, and nice shoes and nice pants. Not jeans and a t-shirt.

Yes, it is a bit extreme, and dorky really. Go with the 'three fiingers below the belly button' rule (that's part of the dress code at my school.

The style of the boys pants nowadays drives me crazy (I guess I'm getting old LOL☼) - that said, I let my kids dress however they want as long as everything is covered up.
I guess I'm just baffled at how the pants stay up.
