The Holy Spirit covered the Blessed Virgin Mary and she conceived a son. Mary has been seen as spouse of the Holy Spirit for many many years and now they are going to say that Mary's spouse is a female so in effect they are saying yes to gay marriage?

I don't think that the people who see god as a female are the same ones who believe in the story of the virgin Mary.

Most people who are liberal enough to think/advocate or believe that God is or could be a woman probably are also liberal enough to believe that homosexuals should have political equality. People who are saying God is a female are advocating to end sexism and associate creation with feminimity. These ideas are probably more important than the actual technicalities of the immaculate conception with a female God. Moreover, remember that the immaculate conception did not involve any part of the male anatomy, so it is just as plausible regardless of what gender or non-gender God is.

By your logic, Mary was not a virgin when she conceived a son and second, she committed adultery with the Holy Spirit and Joseph should not have married her. If you truly believe in immaculate conception, then why does the gender matter?

Who's saying all this? I think you should read something else for a change.

I mean, god is a male???? Have you met some guy who told you he's god? I never heard such anthropocentric bull in my life. Sure, god is male, he shaves every morning and never puts the seat down.

And the holy spirit "covered" the blessed virgin? What kind of an image is that, sounds like sex.

The verb used to describe the Holy Spirit is a feminine one... it is a feminine word. That's just the truth of it. If God is a male due to the pronouns than the spirit is a female -- I actually think God has no gender and the debate is a waste of time. God is God.

I think you may have it a little wrong. Deducing that Jesus is the God the Father, or God the Mother, is not logical. There are three persons in one God: God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Hold Ghost (who very well may be the mother). Making up the real hold family, interchangeable and indivisible. Mary remains the daughter in law to the Father and the Mother.
Hope this helps.

Whoa, I never think like this.
I think GOD is GOD.
GOD is male and female - and all.
A pronoun is needed when I talk, being male I predominately pick the pronoun "he" - but for many years I think who am I talking to, and use a pronoun that will help get my thoughts thought about. Pissing off a feminist is pointless - so I say "she". I say "he" usually when talking to older people and men.
I never think of homosexuality at all, except when listening to 92.7 energy in the morning drive time.
Or, of course, talking about San Francisco sightseeing visits.
This is why it takes me an hour to write small answers. Sometimes I write: he/she and hope for the best.
People are going to think whatever they want, and as no one knows anything about GOD, I don't listen with much passion when they freak out about which sex is GOD.
Usually people say these things to make good people upset. I am sorry you are upset.

in theory that would be true but lemme give you a hint
its all a tall tale anyway so none of that matters.

there is no such thing as marriage people have soiled the sanctity of it and it's meaning long ago. Everybody is a hypocrite. People suck and nobody will ever learn from their mistakes.

living and non living organisms and matter are all energy...energy never dies but duplicates...as seen in space
as seen on this planet
god is and can only be ourselves and everything around us because god is energy...positive and negative.

but don't ever start telling people this because people just might not be able to comprehend this because most people are real simpletons and quite stupid.

Yeah... I thought that in Christianity the spouse of God was supposed to be the church. Hence, "Bride of Christ." So, I think this question is based upon a false premise...supposing you accept the trinity doctrine, I mean. 3 for 1 and 1 for 3!

When people say that God is a male, are they saying Mary wasn't a virgin? Because that kind of looks like what you're implying about God and gender...

(Does God have a penis?)
