I never thought I'd be saying this; but, my Yorkie is the smartest dog I've ever seen. She understands so many words of English, it's amazing.

I have a pitbull and although she is very sweet and a beautiful dog. She will never be accused of being the smartest. So if they have a stupid list ,My guess is the pitbull is at the top.

Border Collies, Golden Retrievers, Jack Russell Terriers and German Shepherds, not necessarily in that order. They can all be very destructive too, intelligent dogs get bored easily.
I gotta disagree with Stan, we had the dumbest dog in the universe, he was a lab. We loved him, but he was just plain dumb.

I have been told that st Bernard's have a mentality of a 3 year old. My mom had a st Bernard who was able to open the glass door when she was outside and she (the dog) would go upstairs and flush the toilet.
