well if it is a serious ear infection it can affect (worse case scenario) your hearing permanently. So keep that in mind.
I use Similasan Earache Relief drops when I have minor ear infections and they work great. I buy mine at my local grocery so I think they are pretty easy to acquire and they are also available online at www.healthyrelief.com
hope you feel better!

I have needed Otodex or Sofradex, from a pharmacy, or drug store, but in Australia, you need a doctor's prescription to get them. You could try lukewarm (NOT HOT), very salty water, keeping the other ear pointed to the ground, so it doesn't run out quickly, for several minutes, several times daily, with a warm damp towelette or flannel as a compress, as a relief measure, but proper medical treatment is strongly advised here, as the only real solution. Try some of these websites; they may know, but I have my doubts. http://www.health.com/health/ & http://www.webmd.com & http://www.emedicineplus.com & http://www.nlm.nih.gov.medlineplus/ency/ Some of them require that you select "E" for "ear infection", then see if you can find that term. What do the people near you do when they need to see a doctor: maybe you can get a lift with someone going near a place you can get treatment, or a bus stop. Contact your local county health service, and see if they can help.

Put few drops of garlic juice into the infected ear. Use blow dryer from about 12 to 15 inches from your head, this will remove any water trapped in the Eustachian tube. Put some olive oil on the warm spoon; put 2 to 3 drops of this in each ear. Put few drops of lobelia extract into the infected ear and rub it gently. Wash your ear using colloidal silver, it is a natural antibiotic. Slightly warm one teaspoon of juice of the mango leaf and put it into the infected ear drop by drop.

ear infections can usually heal on their own. A recent study found that prescription antibiotics are not always necessary and only increase antibiotic resistance. although, if possible I would ask your doctor. until then, OTC pain meds like NSAID's (tylenol, advil) can help with your pain.

if it's an actual infection, nothing will help aside from antibiotics.
if its just a bad earache, theres something you can pick up from most stores called sweet oil. warm it (not hot) and put a few drops in your ear. plug it with cotton. its something my grandma used on my brother and i when we were children and it worked great.
