my friendshas a restraining order against him by his wife. The only time he can be near his wife is during visitation drop offs or his kid and they are not allowed to talk about anything but about the kid. One day he picked up his kid at the coffee shop. My friend and his wife both left. my friendreturned to the coffee shop moments later with his kid to order something, she returns to the shop and gets in line directly behind him at the coffee shop to order something. my friend has not been talking to her out of fear of violating the order. why is she doing this if there is a restraining order against my friend? The restraining order has been for 8 months.

I would advise him to talk to the County or City Clerk in reference to a new hearing regarding the protective order. If she is continually violating it, he may have a decent case.

That action was totally inappropriate of the wife.
In fact even though the order is issued against him, she also has certain rules and ethics she must follow. He needs to get witnesses to protect himself in this case (employees at the shop, things like that) and document this action with the clerk of the court. By her taking the action of approaching him, the judge could revoke or change the order, or even issue one against her now.
Believe me he needs to document this with a police report and through the courts. Tell him to take good care of his kid also and not let him get affected by this mess. GOOD LUCK

She is doing it to get him in trouble, when the police arrive it will be her word against his and unfortunately since she has the protective order against him, he will probably be found in the wrong. I would advise him to return to where the restraining order was issued from and get the rules explained and also get them in black and white.

You're asking someone to know the thought process of someone else. It could be for endless inappropriate reasons, to manipulate, control, harrass, etc.

She's stalking and trying to entrap him. The incident should be reported, and since it's a public place, there's plenty of witnesses. Stalking is illegal, too, by the way

you're asking us why she would do this? that's really a question for her...obviously she doesn't really care if he gets thrown in jail, because it a possibility if he gets caught around her.
