I am 37, I could pass for mid twenties, single, never married, no kids, and I date. The best way to meet people? Talk to people. Really. Either I talk to women or they walk up to me and talk to me. At the store, the bookstore, coffee shop, the park, walking down the street, take up a hobby that mature people do (take sailing lessons, motorcycle riding lessons, horseback riding, join a hiking club, etc). Anywhere but a bar or night club. Honestly, the biggest thing is what a woman's personality is like. To a mature guy, it is the most important thing. Don't act like a little kid. Don't talk like you are looking for a guy to save you from your problems, give you the world, don't complain about anything. Be honest about your problems, but don't spend half an hour complaining about it. Really, I just look for a mature, emotionally stable person who is looking to share a little time with another person. Don't get super intense right away, it screams co-dependency and scares off well adjusted people in a heart beat. Good luck. ;o)
PS I don't date online at all because I don't need to. I'm not saying that everyone with an ad online is a loser, but a lot of people are looking for love online because they have trouble getting a date. Sorry to sound pompous, but I really think you'll find better people just by talking to people. Oh yeah, I just read that women who are out going and friendly get hit on the most. So really, my advice is just talk to people wherever you go...
