I have been dating my boyfriend now for 9 months. He is mexican & i am american. At first my father didn `t know , it was just my mom and she didn`t care. But when my dad found out he got very mad & was telling me i had to break up with him because of a bunch of stupid reasons & he said because he was mexican, once i told him in the bible it doesn`t say you should be racist he shut up ...so my mom got on his side & said i have to break up with him..how can i get them to understand i love him with all my heart & he treats me great.
we are christians i don`t see why they are seeing him as just a mexican..my father looks down on him very badly & is always saying racist slurrs to me..im tired of it i just want them to except him just as god excepts him.

Well as someone from a "bi racial" family, I would have to say that your parents are being ridiculous. I know a lot of "white" guys that are complete losers. The men in my family work hard, are great to their wives and kids and live much better than a lot of "white" guys I know. If I were you, I would find the most white, loser, pot smoking, drug dealing, inconsiderate idiot I could and bring him home and say.....well, you wanted me to date a white guy.....here he is! This just makes me sick that people are still this way. Good luck and don't let your parent's poison your mind! If a guy is a good guy, that should be enough for them, it shouldn't matter what color he is!

You didn't mention your age, but this is very important in order to answer your question. If you are only a kid you have to obey your parents whether you agree with them or not. If you are an adult you can be with anyone you want to be with and enjoy your life in the manner that pleases you most. Your parents need to get their heads out of the sand and face reality because judging a person by his or her race is absolutely ridiculous.

Awww.. Baby girl.. YOU HANG IN THERE!!!! Just because your parents say that doesn't mean you do exactly what they say. Parents say things like that because for one, they don't know him... They hear bad things about mexicans and so and so.. BLA.. BLA.. Who cares!!! I am with a Mexican and I'm Asian... You think it's bad for you... Just imagine what I go through... I actually fight, cry and deal with the **** talking all the time... But I don't let them put me down... I take it as... "It will make me stronger" It's tough, baby girl... But you know, Only half of my family accepts him and the other half is just about like your parents. Both of you just need to prove them wrong.... and be strong for one another.. Good Luck.

Wow. They need to stop with the racial stuff. This is where Christians get the bad rap...some say one thing and do another. The worst part is...he is a good boyfriend. So if you went out with a white kid who smacked you around would it be ok? I think you should continue to date him. Don't lie about it to your parents though...be honest. Good luck to you.

What are the other reasons he gave? I hate to break it to you, but you could bring home the best guy in the world and your dad probably is not going to like him. That's just the way it is with dads and boyfriends.

Don't break up with him just because of your parents. Just chill and don't say anything to them and just keep on dating him. If you love him so much than nothing should get in the way.

You're never going to get your Dad to be happy about this guy. Never.

You may end up having to decide whether to stay with this guy and lose your parents, or leave the guy and save your family relationship.

They need to be careful what they say. Some day they could have grandchildren who's father is of a different race. How will they act then?

They should be happy that you're happy. Let your parents know that only you can live your life ,and only you will live your life. Love is rare, and whenyou find it don't let it go for anyone, even your parents . Pray for guidance, and pray that whatever plan the devil is imposing on your parent's spirits be broken .
